Chapter 1 Note-Taking Criteria

     4) Summarize: Re-tell in your own words, the main plot and important details of your  reading. Your summary should not be more than about a paragraph, or 5-7 sentences.

In chapter one, two main characters are introduced. One of them is George, he is small, quick, and he is smart. The other main character is Lennie, He is big, helpful and is mentally handicapped. George is taking care of Lennie because he promised Lennie's aunt that he would take care of him. They are traveling to west and are looking for a job and they are running away because they did something stupid at their last job. Now they are sleeping in the woods eating beans.

  2) Prediction: Write down your prediction for what you think will happen next in the story. Don't forget to explain what happened in this chapter that helped you form this prediction.

I think what will happen next is that they will find a job at the camp which is a couple miles away because in chapter 1, they were traveling and looking for a job. They say that there is a camp near.

  3) Question: Write down the names of the characters involved, as well as where and when the story is taking place at this point in the text. Next, write down questions you have about the story or characters,  and  any questions about the reading that you did not understand and would like clarification.

The names of the characters involved are George and Lennie. The story is taking place in the woods so far and in the 1930's.
 1) will they find the jobs they need?
 2) How far will they have to travel to get their the jobs?
 3) Are there going to be new characters in the story?
 4) Will George ever leave Lennie alone by himself?
